Kina Yohei
Kina Yohei was influenced by Takagi Shu and Nakayama Masaki, artists and teacher who have been creating works focusing on performance and the theory of the body since the 1970s, during his studying at Toyo Institute of Art & Design. In the 2000s, he produced performance videos that captured society from a critical and unconventional perspective. Afterwards, he shifted his main works to painting, but he has continued to engage actively in performance.
While his critical perspective remains unchanged, he has recently been creating performance that confront his own body directly. (written by Kitayama Seiko)

He drew a line while he was on a plane. On that single line, the movements on the paper-its time and place-and the movement of his traveling body-its time and location-intertwined.

Before this work, he also marked circles passed red yarn through the holes of the fence at U.S military bases in Tokyo and Okinawa. In this work, he also threaded red yarn onto the mirror, as if connecting real and fictional world. Then he reflected the National Diet Building in the mirror.
